Give Your Affirmations A Hand!

There are aspects of us that simply seem to respond to visual symbolism in a much more powerful way than to abstract words. Subconscious mind, unconscious mind, Id, inner child, expanded self--same aspects? Very different aspects? Malarky? Who can say, for sure? Yet, symbolism seems to hold enormous sway with what many have suggested has the power to grab reality by the scruff and manifest with a quickness. So, I say, let's move downstream with all of this, and put some of the power of symbolism to work when using affirmations. For example, hands are a powerful symbol. A symbol of power, itself. Power is, after all, the ability to do work. What better symbol for this than the tool of all tools: the human hand? However, I've avoided using drawings of hands in much of what I do, as disembodied hands are creepy, to say the least. However, when speaking or thinking affirmations, our hands are ready for use. Let's face it, in culture after culture, hand gestures are used for prayer, blessings, and other powerful pronouncements. So, consider how you want energy to move, in the case of any particular affirmation, and position or move your hands, accordingly. For example, if you're affirming, "Wealth becomes me!" it makes sense to move your hands toward you, as though wafting a pleasant scent, closer. If you're affirming, "I feel the relief of wealth in my life," even though you want wealth IN your life, the embedded command is "Feel the relief," so a gesture gracing energy away from yourself will help you feel that sense of relief. Not sure what to do, at all? Just look into your left (receptive) palm, while speaking your affirmation. It will be as though you are pouring the information into your body via your eyes and voice. Remember, many aspects of you react very powerfully to simple visual symbolism. So, use it! |
